Pair of antique boots possibly late 17th -18th century from China. In the early days of Powysland Museum donations of 'international curiosity' were accepted to show locals examples of items from across the globe. It is possible these shoes were donated by someone who had travelled around Asia (known as an Oriental Tour) and brought them back to Wales. These boots are made of black padded silk with a quilted pattern stitched around the lower half. The soles are thick and very different to the traditional western shoe with a pattern cut into the material. If you know any more about these boots, please get in contact with us. Pâr o hen esgidiau, o ddiwedd yr 17eg neu ddechrau’r 18fed ganrif efallai o Tsieina. Yn nyddiau cynnar Amgueddfa Powysland, derbyniwyd rhoddion o ‘ddiddordeb rhyngwladol’ er mwyn dangos i bobl leol esiamplau o eitemau o bedwar ban byd. Mae’n bosibl i’r esgidiau gael eu rhoi gan rywun oedd wedi teithio Asia (ar y daith ddwyreiniol) ac a ddaeth â nhw nôl i Gymru. Gwnaethpwyd yr esgidiau hyn o sidan du trwchus, gyda phatrwm gwaith cwiltio o gwmpas y rhan gwaelod. Mae’r gwadnau’n drwchus ac yn hollol wahanol i esgidiau traddodiadol y gorllewin, gyda phatrwm a dorrwyd mewn i’r defnydd. Os oes gennych ragor o wybodaeth am yr esgidiau, hyn, byddem yn hoffi clywed gennych.
