1. About Lluniau StoriPowys

Lluniau StoriPowys is home to the digital collections of Powys County Council’s Museums, Libraries and Archives. Images available to download include old photographs, museum objects, letters, and ephemera curated by a team of dedicated staff and volunteers. Most of the images can be purchased for personal use, where copyright allows.

 

2. How to search for images

Each image has been chosen to showcase the collections and tell the story of each region. The descriptions often include the historic context and significance of the images.


The site can be explored in a variety of ways, users can:


  • Follow the themes on the homepage.
  • Search by category. (Filter by selecting the boxes next to the category).
  • Search by date, using the slider.
  • Use the free search. (Enter a single word into the search field).

Results are ordered alphabetically by title.

 

Tips for searching by date

Prehistoric items have been given a date of ‘1’. This is to allow the date slider to cope with the huge span of time that our collections cover. (Every item requires a date for it to found). You can find these items by using the term ‘prehistoric’.

To search for all contributions from an individual site, use the following terms:

3. Free features

  • Easy 5-star rating system. 
    Glide your mouse across the star icons to assign a rating and send your favourite pictures shooting up the ‘Highest Rated’ chart.
  • Share image thumbnails on social media.
    Click the logos on the image options panel and log in to your preferred site. Then post and share thumbnails of our images.

Register for enhanced interactivity and to purchase digital copies of our images.

  • Help improve search results by adding descriptive ‘keywords’ to our images.
  • Know something more about an image? Add to our story by leaving a comment.
  • Dedicate an image to someone special by tagging it with a message. This will appear on the image options panel. The cost is £3. (It's like adding a plaque to a digital park bench!). Dedications will remain on the site for 12 months.
We reserve the right to remove offensive submissions from the site, and to refuse refunds to those responsible. Content added by users will not automatically be translated into Welsh (if added to the English language site) or English (if added to the Welsh language site).


4. How to buy our images

Sign-up

  • Select the Register link at the top of the page to get started. Follow the registration instructions to create your account.
  • Once registered you can easily log in and out of your account.

Browse / search our images

See section 2 for help.

  • Select BUY to open more details and access the image options panel.
  • Choose image size
  • Select your preferred size by clicking on the S, M, or L buttons.
    (Image sizes: Small 500x500 px, medium 900x900 px or large 3000x3000 px).
  • Read and agree to the Terms of Use
  • Click on the radio button on the image options panel to agree.
  • Add to your basket
  • Click on BUY to add images to your basket.

Ready to buy?

  • Select Basket from the top of the page.

Review your order

  • You can make changes to your order in your basket.

Pay

  • Select CHECKOUT to complete your purchase.

Instant delivery

  • Your images will be then available for you to download. A copy will also be stored in the Downloads area of your account Dashboard.
