Pair of heavy drainer's clogs. A drainer was a person who worked with drains, this could be down in the sewers or repairing drains. It would have been a very dirty and smelly job requiring a very solid pair of shoes that would stand up to hours in wet, mud and muck. These clogs or boots have a leather upper and a very thick wooden sole with iron wrapped around and underneath with nail spikes. The thick sole prevented cold and water seeping through and the studs gave grip (much like football boots do). They are extremely heavy and the leather is now quite brittle. Pâr o esgidiau pren trwm draeniwr. Unigolyn oedd yn gweithio gyda draeniau oedd draeniwr; gall olygu gweithio lawr yn y ceuffosydd neu atgyweirio draeniau. Gwaith hynod fudr a drewllyd oedd, a byddai angen pâr o esgidiau cadarn iawn oherwydd byddai’n treulio oriau yn y dŵr, y llaid a budreddi. Gwnaethpwyd rhan uchaf yr esgidiau o ledr, ac mae ganddynt wadnau pren trwchus gyda haearn o amgylch ac oddi tanynt a hoelion yn bigau. Roedd y gwadnau trwchus yn atal yr oerfel a’r dŵr rhag treiddio i’r traed ac roedd y pigau’n gafael (yn debyg iawn i esgidiau pêl-droed). Maent yn drwm ofnadwy, ac erbyn hyn mae’r lledr yn frau.
