This shirt dates from around 1915 and would have been worn as part of the uniform for the Brecknock Union Workhouse. In 1834 ‘unions’ of parishes were created to provide support for poor people in a workhouse instead of in their homes. The conditions in the workhouse were very harsh. Mae’r crys hwn yn dyddio o oddeutu 1915 a byddai wedi cael ei wisgo yn rhan o’r wisg ar gyfer Tloty Undeb Brycheiniog. Ym 1834, crëwyd ‘undebau’ plwyfi i roi cymorth i bobl dlawd mewn tloty yn hytrach nag yn eu cartrefi. Roedd yr amodau yn y tloty yn galed iawn.
