This chaff cutting machine comes from Crai, near Sennybridge. It was used for cutting straw chaff, hay and oats into small pieces which was then mixed with other forage and fed to horses and cattle. Few farms or stables were without one by the end of the 18th century. Mae’r periant torri manus hwn yn dod o Grai ger Pontsenni. Fe’i defnyddid i dorri mân us gwellt, gwair a cheirch yn ddarnau bach. Wedyn byddai’n cael ei gymysgu â phorthiant arall a’i fwydo i geffylau a gwartheg. Roedd gan y rhan fwyf o ffermydd a stablau chaffwr felly erbyn diwedd y ddeunawfed ganrif.
