Collected from the Pontywal estate near Bronllys, which dated to around 1500. The fireback and grate has a makers date of 1679 and also includes an image of Pax (peace). The “fire dogs” have naturalistic dogs’ heads on each terminal. A mansion was built at Pontywal in 1759. The estate was sold in 1913 and a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients was constructed, this subsequently became the site of Bronllys Hospital. Casglwyd y gwrthrychau yma o ystâd Pont-y-wal ger Bronllys, a oedd yn dyddio i oddeutu 1500. Mae gan y cefn tân a’r grât ddyddiad gwneuthurwyr o 1679 ac mae hefyd yn cynnwys delwedd o Pax (heddwch). Mae gan y gobedau bennau cŵn naturiol ar bob pen. Adeiladwyd plasty ym Mhont-y-wal ym 1759. Gwerthwyd yr ystâd ym 1913 ac fe adeiladwyd iechydfa ar gyfer cleifion y pla gwyn. Wedi hynny fe ddaeth yn safle Ysbyty Bronllys.
