WW2 poem called 'The Curlew's Cry' written by an injured soldier, Peter Lewis, while at the 20th British General Hospital. The Lewis family owned a large tannery in Newtown and moved to Milford Hall from Glan Hafren in 1936. They had lots of famous literary friends. Cerdd o'r Ail Ryfel Byd, o'r enw 'The Curlew's Cry' a gyfansoddwyd gan filwr a anafwyd, Peter Lewis, yn ystod ei gyfnod yn yr 20fed Ysbyty Cyffredinol Prydeinig. Roedd teulu Lewis yn berchen ar danerdy mawr yn y Drenewydd, a symudasant i Neuadd Milford o Glan Hafren ym 1936. Roedd ganddynt lawer o gyfeillion llengar.
