Straw hat designed to protect a donkey from the sun when working in the fields. There are two holes for the donkey's ears, covered in red cotton tape. The same tape is used for ties beneath the chin. Donkeys were used in many Welsh towns to pull cartloads of produce or coal. Het gwellt er mwyn diogelu mul rhag yr haul wrth weithio yn y caeau.
