A pair of leg irons together with a key inscribed 'Brecon Gaol', probably 19th century. The leg irons would be locked around the ankles of a prisoner and often used on prisoners in transit. They would have been joined by a chain either to each other or to a fixed anchor point. Pâr o haearnau coes ac allwedd yn dangos arysgrifen ‘Brecon Gaol’ arnynt. Mae’n debyg eu bod yn dyddio o’r bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg. Byddai’r haearnau coes yn cael eu cloi am fferau carcharwr a’u defnyddio arnynt wrth eu symud o’r naill le i’r llall. Roedden nhw’n cael eu cysylltu gyda chadwyn, un ai â’i gilydd, neu â phwynt angor sefydlog.
