A metal tin box, known as a snap tin or tommy box, was commonly used by miners in the early 20th century to take food down the coal mine. The tight-fitting lid protected the food from dust, mine water and even rats. It was a chance for miners to rest during their arduous shift. Blwch tun metal, a adwaenid fel tun snap neu focs tomi. Fe’i defnyddid yn gyffredin gan lowyr yn gynnar yn yr ugeinfed ganrif i fynd â bwyd i lawr y pyllau glo. Mae’r caead tynn yn diogelu’r bwyd rhag llwch, dŵr y pyllau glo a llygod mawr hyd yn oed. Roedd yn gyfle i lowyr orffwys yn ystod eu sifft llafurus.
