This women’s hat came from the Gower but is typical of those worn through much of Wales from the 1830s. The hats were made from felt or silk plush on a stiffened buckram base. By the end of the century Welsh hats were part of the national costume, only worn for special occasions. Daeth yr het hon o’r Gŵyr ond mae’n nodweddiadol o’r rhai a wisgwyd trwy ran helaeth o Gymru o’r 1830au. Gwnaed yr hetiau o ffelt neu blwsh sidan ar sail bwcram caled. Erbyn diwedd y ganrif roedd yr hetiau Cymreig yn rhan o’r wisg genedlaethol, dim ond i’w gwisgo ar achlysur arbennig.
