This bell from Llangenny, dated 1640, would probably have been used to announce local deaths and for funeral services. The Latin inscription, Memento Mori, translates as ‘Remember you will die’ as a reminder to the ringer (and those hearing the bell) to consider their own mortality. Mae’n debyg y byddai’r gloch hon o Langenau, dyddiedig 1640, wedi cael ei defnyddio i gyhoeddi marwolaethau lleol ac ar gyfer gwasanaethau angladd. Mae’r arysgrif Lladin, Memento Mori, yn cyfieithu i ‘Cofiwch y byddwch yn marw’ i atgoffa’r canwr clychau (a’r rhai sy’n clywed y clychau) i ystyried eu marwoldeb eu hunain.
