This powder flask made of stag’s horn dates from the 16th century and would have contained gunpowder, an essential part of shooting equipment. It was discovered in the late Victorian period during excavations near Hay-on-Wye station. It is carved on one side with a picture of Jesus and the woman of Samaria at the well. Gwnaed y fflasg bowdr hon o gorn carw ac mae’n dyddio o’r unfed ganrif ar bymtheg. Byddai wedi cynnwys powdwr gwn, rhan hanfodol o offer saethu. Fe’i darganfuwyd yn hwyr yn y cyfnod Fictoraidd yn ystod gwaith cloddio ger gorsaf Y Gelli Gandryll. Mae wedi’i cherfio â llun o Iesu ar un ochr a’r ferch o Samaria wrth y ffynnon.
