When farmhouses across Brecknockshire made butter for sale at market or to travelling butter merchants, each farm would use its own distinctive butter print. These prints were often made of sycamore as the wood did not taint the butter. One travelling butter merchant was Jac y Menyn (Jack the Butter) from the Abergwesyn area. Pan arferai ffermdai ar draws Sir Frycheiniog wneud menyn i’w werthu yn y farchnad neu ar gyfer masnachwyr menyn teithiol, defnyddiai pob fferm ei stamp menyn nodweddiadol ei hun. Gwneid y printiau hyn allan o fasarnen gan fwyaf gan nad oedd y pren yn difwyno’r menyn. Un o’r masnachwyr menyn hyn oedd Jac y Menyn o ardal Abergwesyn.
