These two Roman spoons were found in 1783 during the excavation of the elaborate bath-house of a Roman villa near Llanfrynach. The main building has not been found. Called ‘cochlearia’, they are of tinned or silvered bronze, typical of the early 4th century AD. The pointed handles may have been used for extracting shellfish. Cafwyd hyd i’r ddwy lwy Rufeinig hyn ym 1783 wrth gloddio baddondy cywrain fila Rufeinig ger Llanfrynach. Ni ddaethpwyd o hyd i’r prif adeilad. Fe’i gelwir yn ‘cochlearia’, ac maent wedi eu haraenu â thun neu efydd arian, sy’n nodweddiadol o ddechrau’r 4edd ganrif OC. Mae’n bosibl y cafodd y dolenni pigfain eu defnyddio i echdynnu pysgod cregyn.
