This stick chair is a forerunner to the Windsor chair. A product of country workmanship it was a common item in Wales and the West Country in the mid-18th century. It was common in farmhouses of the period, the uneven stone floors of which needed a more stable three-legged design. Mae’r gadair ffon hon yn rhagflaenydd i gadair Windsor. Roedd yn gynnyrch crefftwaith gwledig ac yn eitem gyffredin yng Nghymru ac yn ne-orllewin Lloegr yn ystod canol y deunawfed ganrif. Fe’i gwelwyd yn aml yn ffermdai’r cyfnod, gan fod y cynllun tair coes yn fwy sefydlog ar y lloriau cerrig anwastad.
