Suffragette in-the-box Swffragét yn-y-bocs

This is a rare object used as an early form of hate mail, directed against suffragettes who campaigned for votes for women in the early 20th century. Opponents put it through a letterbox to intimidate the lady of the house. The spring-loaded doll, showing a suffragette as an unpleasant woman, jumped out when the box was opened. Gwrthrych prin yw hwn a ddefnyddid fel dull cynnar o bost casineb, wedi’i gyfeirio at swffragetiaid a fu’n ymgyrchu dros bleidleisiau i ferched yn gynnar yn yr ugeinfed ganrif. Byddai gwrthwynebwyr yn rhoi’r bocs trwy’r blwch llythyrau i frawychu merch y tŷ. Roedd y ddol yn dangos swffragét fel rhywun annymunol ac roedd wedi’i llwytho â sbring.
