This 19th century chair uses a weaving technique known as Lip-Work, with each chair design being unique to the maker. Lip-work was briefly fashionable and used in gentry and urban households. This example was probably used as a lambing chair, with a compartment under the seat to place orphaned lambs to keep warm. Mae’r gadair hon o’r bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg yn defnyddio dull gwehyddu o’r enw Plethu-Gwefus, gyda chynllun pob cadair yn unigryw i’r gwneuthurwr. Roedd gwaith plethu-gwefus yn ffasiynol am fyr dro ac fe’i defnyddid mewn cartrefi bonedd a threfol. Mae’n debyg i’r enghraifft hon gael ei defnyddio fel cadair ŵyna, gyda lle o dan y sedd i roi ŵyn amddifad i’w cadw’n gynnes.
