Pair of Victorian boots made of cream silk. They have a suede leather sole, elasticated side gusset, small low heel and a purple bow with fanned silk above for decoration. Dating to 1860s to 1870s. A characteristic of this boot is this triangular shaped gusset or gore made of elastic. Elastic made it easier for busy working Victorian women to put on and take off her boots without the hassle of laces. The elastic gusset was invented in 1837. Sparks Hall created the first pair of slip-on boots and presented them to Queen Victoria, who enthusiastically embraced the new style. At the back of the shoe is a small tag used to help pull on the boot similar to the Chelsea Boot today. Pâr o esgidiau o gyfnod Victoria a wnaethpwyd o sidan lliw hufen. Mae iddynt wadn lledr swêd, cwysed ystwyth ar yr ochr, sawdl bach isel a dolen borffor gyda sidan mewn siâp ffan i’w addurno. Maent yn dyddio nôl i’r 1860au – 1870au. Un o nodweddion yr esgid yw’r cwysed ystwyth ar siâp triongl. Roedd elastig yn ei wneud yn haws i fenywod oedd yn brysur yn gweithio yn ystod cyfnod Victoria dynnu a gwisgo eu hesgidiau heb orfod poeni am gareiau. Crëwyd y cwysed ystwyth ym 1837. Crëwyd y par cyntaf o esgidiau heb gareiau gan Sparks Hall ac fe’u cyflwynwyd i’r Frenhines Victoria, ac roedd hi’n frwdfrydig iawn am y steil newydd. Ar gefn yr esgid, mae tag bach i’w ddefnyddio i helpu gwisgo’r esgid, yn debyg i Esgidiau Chelsea heddiw.
